ICAT Briefing to Vienna-based Permanent Missions - Vienna - 13 December 2016
On 13 December 2016, the Inter-Agency Coordination Group against Trafficking in Persons (ICAT) hosted a briefing for Member States to inform them of ICAT’s key outputs for 2016, which included discussion documents, tools and advocacy material. Held at UNODC Headquarters in Vienna, the briefing also marked the conclusion of the 2016 Chairmanship by UNODC. Following the briefing, Member States were given an opportunity to ask questions about the work of ICAT.
Side Event: Human Trafficking, Modern Day Slavery and the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda - Vienna - 17 October 2016
On 17 October 2016, the Inter-agency Coordination Group against Trafficking in Persons (ICAT), together with the Government of Belarus, the Group of Friends United Against Human Trafficking and the Academic Council of the United Nations System (ACUNS), hosted a side event to the 8th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organized Crime.
World Day against Trafficking in Persons - - 30 July 2016
In its third year, the World Day provides an opportunity to reflect on our shared responsibility and show solidarity with those victimized. Human trafficking is a parasitic crime that feeds on vulnerability, thrives in times of uncertainty, and profits from inaction. With greater understanding and by working together, we can give trafficking victims, as well as the many children, women and men on the move vulnerable to human trafficking, a much-needed voice and a helping hand.
Expert Group Meetings: Evaluation of Anti-Trafficking Responses - Vienna - 04 July 2016
Two expert consultations were hosted in Vienna on 9-10 December 2015 and 4-5 July 2016, to conduct discussions towards jointly elaborating a discussion paper on the issue of evaluating anti-trafficking responses; and a way forward, or a “road map”, towards improving the evaluation of anti-trafficking interventions, respectively. These meetings convened anti-trafficking experts and monitoring, evaluation and learning specialists to discuss and refine the roadmap in a consultative process.
World Day against Trafficking in Persons - - 30 July 2015
To mark the second annual World Day against Trafficking in Persons, the Principals of eight ICAT agencies issued a joint statement. Together, these eight heads of organizations are urging more to be done to help the millions of women, men and children who fall victim to one of today’s most brutal human rights violations, and to join forces to improve trafficked persons' access to remedies that respond to their individual needs. This video includes statements from the following members of the ICAT: ILO, INTERPOL, IOM, OHCHR, UN Women, UNHCR, UNICRI and UNODC.
Launch of the ICAT Second Policy Paper: Preventing Trafficking in Persons by Addressing Demand - Vienna - 10 October 2014
On 9 October 2014, the ICAT published its second policy paper entitled Preventing Trafficking in Persons by Addressing Demand, in the margins of the seventh session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Transnational Organized Crime.
World Day against Trafficking in Persons - - 30 July 2014
On the occasion of the first World Day against Trafficking in Persons, the ICAT Working group produced a joint statement, to mark its member organizations’ renewed commitment to inter-agency cooperation and coordination to support Member States in the fight against trafficking in persons.
Launch of the ICAT First Policy Paper: The International Legal Frameworks concerning Trafficking in Persons - Vienna - 16 October 2012
On 16 October 2012, the ICAT launched its first policy paper on The International Legal Frameworks concerning Trafficking in Persons at a side event on the margins of the Fifth Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Transnational Organized Crime and its Protocols.
Launch of the ICAT Overview Paper: The Next Decade - New York - 24 May 2012
In May 2012, an interactive dialogue and thematic discussion was held at the UN in New York. It was hosted by ICAT and co-sponsored by the Mission of Sweden, together with the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN). During this meeting, ICAT launched an overview paper: The Next Decade: Promoting Common Priorities and Greater Coherence in the Fight against Human Trafficking. The ICAT overview paper provides an introduction to five key issues related to human trafficking, serving as a basis for the five forthcoming issue papers.
ICAT Meeting - Geneva - 01 July 2011
In July 2011, in an effort to reinvigorate the structure, interested ICAT members, including ILO, Interpol, IOM, OHCHR, UNHCR, UNICEF, UN Women, UNAIDS and UNODC met in Geneva on the margins of the 17th session of the Human Rights Council.
